Visceral Mobilization

Visceral Mobilization

Visceral Manipulation (VM) therapy is hands-on treatment that assists in the release of a body’s restrictions and unhealthy compensations that may be caused by pain, disease, and/or trauma.

Trained therapists apply visceral mobilization to also address the cause of chronic pain – not just treat the symptoms.
Viscera means internal organs of the body, such as the liver, kidneys and intestines. Therapists focus on evaluating the entire body then use gentle compression, torsion, strumming and elongation of the soft tissues determine underlying problems.

The goal of this type of treatment is to release the source of the restriction and facilitate healing of the body.

Visceral mobilization may be part of a treatment plan that helps with:
  • Swallowing dysfunction
  • Chronic pelvic pain
  • Digestive disorders and acid reflux
  • Post-operative scar tissue pain
  • Spinal pain
  • Headaches & migraines
